With so many things to do, here are a few links to help you organize your stay :

From the Cadre Noir to the Museum of Cavalry, Saumur is home to the Grand Tradition of French Horse Riding recognized by the UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Shows take place all year round at the ENE, the "Ecole Nationale d'Equitation". You might also enjoy taking a carriage tour of Saumur or try our equestrian centers.

Walking trails

Our many walking trails will take you from some of the "most beautiful villages of France" to the Loire riverside through vineyards and troglodyte villages.

Following the "Loire à vélo" trail down the Loire through the Natural Regional Park Loire-Anjou-Touraine is a great way to discover the Saumur area, its historical villages and beautiful scenery.

From the air

Discover from above the magic of a flight over the Loire Valley castles and vineyards.

Bowling, Saumur style

The traditional game of bowls took an unusual turn in Anjou in the 17th century. Praticed with weighted balls down a curved lane, this friendly game is the only one in the world to be played in slippers! Beginners welcome :)

Down the river

Paddle softly round bird sanctuaries on the Loire, the last wild river of Europe, and its tributaries by kayak, canoe or sail. Or you can take a sunset cruise on a traditional wooden boat and see for yourself why the UNESCO gave the Loire Valley status as World Heritage Living Cultural Landscape.
